Job Title: Engineering - Construction Quality Manager III.
Job Description: Construction Quality Manager (Mechanical/Civil):
The QA Manager is a full-time field-based position responsible for mechanical/civil inspection and oversight services to support the implementation and execution of the project site quality program. Collaborate with contractors to resolve discrepancies and ambiguities and ensures all construction activities are performed in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications, to include contract requirements.
Some typical responsibilities are:
- Control and the distribution of all the company’s quality documentation.
- Monitor all quality related activities on the project.
- Perform daily inspections of the work being performed onsite.
- Perform all internal and external audits on behalf of the company’s management.
- Verify contractor quality requirements are specified to vendors and contractor documentation submittals.
- Review quality inspection personnel qualifications and training requirements.
- Monitor the disposition of all issued nonconformance reports.
- Monitor the progress and effectiveness of the project quality management system. Recommend and implement improvements, when required.
- Review and provide comments on all quality related correspondence with the contractor’s representatives.
- Monitor statistical method reporting.
- Review all turnover documentation upon the completion of the project.
- Participate in all quality related activities with the designated representatives.
- Attend monthly, weekly and daily meetings and provide perspective on all quality related subjects when needed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- 5 years of experience in construction quality management. Construction experience preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong conflict resolution skills.
- Prior utility experience.
- Must be willing to travel.
- Ability to plan and perform highly complex operations with the ability and authority to make decisions autonomously.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse and inclusive environment.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
Cedar River Generating Station is a natural gas electric generating facility with a capacity of approximately 94 net megawatts (MWac). The Project will consist of five Wärtsilä W18V50SG RICE generators. Each RICE generator will have a nominal capacity of 18.8 MW. The Project will be located adjacent to the existing Prairie Creek Generating Station.
**This role will be expected to travel between the Cedar Rapids and Burlington, Iowa project sites, with time split approximately 50/50 between the two locations.
